What do you love most about playing and/or singing?
One of the things I love most about singing is that it can express so much emotion. Words are important, but it is HOW you sing that really conveys the message of a song. Singing breaks language and culture barriers, so you can go anywhere in the world with your singing voice, find commonalities, and be able to communicate.
What do you love most about teaching voice?
What I love most about teaching voice is that I get to meet so much raw talent, and help students shape and control their unique voices.
What do you most appreciate about your student Anna?
What I most appreciate about Anna is that she is extremely hard-working. I have her full attention during our lessons, and she is always ready to give each song her all. She immediately adjusts to suggestions, and comes prepared for the following lesson. And she is always happy and full of energy. I can tell music has that effect on her.
What is one of your favorite songs to play, and what is one of your favorite songs to listen to?
My favorite song to sing and play is “Hallelujah”, and one of my favorite songs to listen to is “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John. It’s such a feel-good and empowering song. No matter how gray the sky might be, it reminds me that I can do anything. It makes me want to get up and dance.
