Matthew, age 8. He’s been taking piano for almost a year.

What is your favorite song to play, and what is your favorite song to listen to?

My favorite song to listen to is “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons, and my favorite song to play is “Blue Suede Shoes.”

What do you like best about taking piano lessons?

I like learning to play the keys on the piano and their letters, too.

What do you love most about music?

Music is fun!

Norah, age 10. She’s been taking piano for two years.

What is your favorite song to play, and what is your favorite song to listen to?

My favorite song to listen to is “Call Me Maybe”, and my favorite song to play is “Blue Suede Shoes.”

What do you like best about taking piano lessons?

Piano lessons make me calm and I get to play things that sound good.

What do you love most about music?

Music makes me happy!

What do you like about your teacher Henry?

Henry helps me understand things when I don’t at first.

How old were you when you took your first music lesson, and what instrument was it?

I started taking Suzuki violin lessons when I was 4. That didn’t last long– luckily my mom started me with piano lessons when I was 8.

What is your favorite song to listen to, and what is your favorite song to play or sing?

My favorite song to listen to and play is “Allentown” by Billy Joel. (My parents live in Allentown now, though I’ve never actually lived there).

What do you like most about being a music teacher?

I feel very lucky to have had the most amazing teachers throughout my life. Being a music teacher now feels like a good way for me to pay back all of the lessons I learned growing up.

What do you love most about music?

I love that music is an international language that can be expressed successfully without words. “Let the music speak for itself”.

What do you like about teaching Matthew and Norah?

Matthew and Norah are two of my best students who share the great qualities of being consistent practicers as well as always having positive attitudes throughout our lessons.
