Miles Pretel

Miles Pretel is a musician, producer, and educator with significant professional experience in the Chicago music scene. By tailoring lessons to each student, Miles helps them follow their own musical path while building a strong foundation in technique and musicianship. He loves when students bring in their favorite songs, sparking curiosity and building awareness of how music is woven into everyday life. With experience in many genres including pop, r&b, latin, jazz and classical, Miles shows his students there is something to learn in every type of song.

Miles began his musical journey at a young age, starting with classical piano and expanding into jazz standards by high school. Drawn to the creative freedom of improvisation and composition, these passions guided his studies at Columbia College Chicago, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music.

Since then he has been recognized by downbeat magazine, the Notre Dame jazz fest, and the Elmhurst jazz fest for his playing and compositional work with the Columbia College fusion ensemble.
